As the FoodStack Library gets underway, I am sure there are many questions you will want answered.
This Library is a work in progress, meaning some sections such as Vegan, Vegetarian and Gluten Free publications, are subject to change.
These questions are based on similar questions I have seen on other substack library accounts. This whole FoodStack library was inspired by
run byWhat is FoodStack Library?
FoodStack Library is a collection of food bloggers, food writers, recipe creators, and others who write about food. Searching for recipes can be difficult on Substack, so I hope to make it easier for people to find them by creating this Library and ‘Open Kitchen’ a weekly discussion section.
The Main Library is open, and you can apply to be listed by filling out this form.
How Can We Use the FoodStack Library?
Check out the Main Library to see who is listed, and click on relevant links to go directly to their substack publications.
Can Anyone Apply to Join The Library?
Only food-related Substack accounts can apply to be listed in the Library, regardless of your number of subscribers or followers. Zero to infinity, feel free to apply.
If you are new to Substack, you must have at least a few posts for people to read.
Can Anyone subscribe to the FoodStack Library Newsletter?
Yes. I encourage anyone who has an interest in food to subscribe. Tell your friends and family. The more, the merrier.
What About Featuring Substack Accounts and Guest Posts?
Anyone listed in the FoodStack Library can submit a guess post. Here’s how to submit a guest post.
Likewise, a member of the Library may be chosen to be featured within the FoodStack Library account. More about that here
Can I email you my or anyone else’s account details to add to the Library?
No. Submissions should be voluntary. It’s easier for you and me if you complete this form.
Please send a link to this page if you know of anyone who may like to be listed in the Library.
Will there be a Paywall?
Thanks for asking, but I have no plans to paywall this account at the moment. I am retired, and running this publication is a hobby of mine. Instead, use the subscription fee for some other Substack publication. That said, it takes up a lot of my time, which is why I have volunteers helping me out. Between us, we can curate a lot more content for you to read, enjoy and connect with a wonderful community.
Will AI generate any of the Accounts listed in the Library?
I cover this question in the application form, and I trust the admins when they say they do not use it. I will do my best to double-check for AI-generated content and images, especially those used in recipes and any posts that are scraped or copied from other sites. If anyone spots anything, please let me know.
Will You Be Using the Chat function?
I will occasionally use the chat function, especially during the GBBO series. We also have the ‘Open Kitchen,’ a weekly discussion section that everyone can join in.
Will this mean more subscribers and followers for me?
With ‘Fair Winds and Following Seas’, we will all benefit from being part of the FoodStack Library community. Restacking the library in your own newsletter and sharing on Notes will help everyone.
You can also submit a guest post, apply to be featured in the Q&A Other People’s Kitchens series and the very popular Open Kitchen discussions.
Get Featured in the Q&A: Other People’s Kitchens
Not everyone is successful. So, before you apply to be featured in the Q&A Other People’s Kitchen, please read the following guidelines.
Do you have an active and up-to-date Substack Publication?
For the most part, do you write about food?
Do you have plenty of posts for people to read when they visit your publication?
If your substack is new, with less than three published posts, please return to us when you have published a little more.
Can you meet deadlines? This is a very important one. If an agreed deadline, usually two weeks, is missed, we will assume you are no longer interested in being featured at this time. You can still return your response, but there is no guarantee it will be accepted and may not be published until much later than initially planned. Please read the note below about deadlines.
To Apply please email Lynn (that’s me) at FoodStackLibrary@gmail.com with the Header Q&A Other People’s Kitchen’s.
A Word or Two About Deadlines.
The FoodStack Library is a labour of love, compiled weekly with hours of volunteer time, including mine. I accept and understand how busy you all are, but for this project to fulfil its purpose of lifting up and showcasing Substack food writers, it is vital that deadlines are respected. We are a network of busy writers and missed commitments affect us all....."
