I’ve been a food blogger since 2009. Whenever I start something new, I go for it rather than wait until I think it’s perfect before I press publish. I prefer to learn from any mistakes I make along the way. I don’t regard anything that ends or closes down as a failure, but lessons that I implement when starting the next.
Sometimes, these projects become overwhelming, but there are times when that little voice on my shoulder says, "Keep going, Lynn. Keep going." The FoodStack Library has the same little voice.
My inspiration for the FoodStack Library came from seeing what
and are doing with their publication .Seeing the FoodStack Library and community grow has been one of my biggest enjoyments. I am lucky to have a community willing to give feedback and opinions when I ask for them. This is my hobby that helps keep my brain active.
Feedback and Ideas
It was during a recent survey that one member suggested this.
a weekly curated post kind of like what Substack Reads does where a guest editor puts it timesheet and shared their 3/4 favourite pieces.
I would certainly be interested in a section similar to Substack Reads, with a weekly digest of great food writers, podcasts, and ideas from the FSL community.
But as I am currently the only admin with a badly sprained wrist that is taking longer to mend than expected, as old bones often do, I don’t have the time to research and write such an interesting and rewarding series of posts.
I am also embarking on another project within the FoodStack Library to grow the RecipeStack index. I plan to make this an evergreen project, which will take up much of my time over the coming months.
No Paywall
The FoodStack Library is not paywalled, not even a voluntary option, and I do not plan to add one. I would much prefer you use your subscription money to support your favourite food writer in the Library.
You can also support FSL by sharing, restacking, and mentioning it in Notes or one of your posts.
Remaining Positive.
Thank you for keeping the FoodStack Library publication a positive and uplifting space for everyone. Please scroll on if this post doesn’t interest you.
Volunteer to help me out.
So you can see why I need some help.
I would like a few volunteers to commit to helping me out for 3 - 6 months. I realise your publication will take priority, but I would be grateful if you could commit to a few hours each week.
Ideally, I would like volunteers with an existing substack publication who know their way around the Substack dashboard.
While there are no monetary rewards, you will always have my whole hearted appreciation for the work you do.
Volunteer Co-Admin/ Collaborator - To work alongside me to help build the FoodStack Library. Occasionally check any edits if I am overwhelmed with posts, suggest ideas, or take over when I need a break.
Monthly Zoom chats to discuss and plan content for the coming month and how your publication can fit in with the FoodStack Library. Supporting each other.
FoodStack Reads co-ordinator: As mentioned above by a member of the FSL community. Similar to Substack Reads, you will research and publish a weekly post/bi-weekly/monthly post, whichever is more appropriate, and coordinate with any guest writers wishing to contribute to the feature. We can discuss how best to implement this.
Please complete this form if you are interested in volunteering for any of these positions. The deadline for all applications is Thursday, 5th September 2024
Submissions are closed. Many thanks to everyone who volunteered.
As always, many thanks for your support.
